  • Performing for Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital Charity Concert 2012

    December 13, 2012 | Posted By: | News |

Despite being a charitable organization that is heavily dependent on public support and donations, Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital (KWSH) remains focused on providing quality healthcare. Hence, KWSH organizes annual charity concert hoping to do more for the needy.

With Mr. Iskandar Ismail roped in this year’s show, you know it is going to be great. On top of that, the renowned Music Director also highly recommended S2S artiste Tay Kewei to be involved in this big-scale production.

Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth, Mr Lawrence Wong was at the Singapore Conference Hall as Guest-of-Honour during the show too. The concert presents a fusion of overseas and local singers such as Ding Fan, Amni Musfirah, Bu Chang Weng, Cheryl Wee and many more, performing from Chinese classics to upbeat Chinese songs and Cantonese operas.

The audience was mesmerized by her sweet vocals and warm smiles when Kewei did a solo performance. Isn’t She Lovely? by Stevie Wonder was madly covered by well-known artistes such as jazz fusion artist, Lee Ritenour, saxophonist Najee, featured in television series Glee and many more. Kewei wanted to convey the message that one who gives is lovely, one who gives is wonderful, just as what the lyrics suggests.

Before the finale, together with three other singers, Kewei did a Shanghai medle, singing along to the song Night Shanghai, or better known as Ye Shanghai – performed by old Shanghai’s nightingale Zhou Xuan since first composed in 1942. They dispersed and Kewei returned to the stage later and perform one of the Chinese classic oldies何日君再来 (he ri jun zai lai) which received a hall-full of applause.

The concert ended on a good note with all the performers involved in the singalong session Forever Friends, theme song for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, sung by Sun Nan and Coco Lee previously. A desirable amount of funds were also raised during the course of the concert.

Thank you for supporting Kewei in this event too and just in case you were unable to get hold of the tickets (it’s a sold-out concert show!), do view more event photos here. Hope to see you at the next event!

3 Cheers and 3 Cheers for Tay Kewei!

    November 22, 2012 | Posted By: | News |

Tay Kewei made a special appearance during the finale concert of Red Camp 9 at Ngee Ann Polytechnic together with Jack & Rai, Sezairi Sezali and many more. Though it was a new crowd, Kewei was very impressed as everyone was extremely supportive and responsive.

Kewei’s ‘mini concert’ started with Fallin, the original track that never fails to captivate any audience. Following that was her first attempt singing one of Adele’s chart topping hits, Rolling In The Deep, LIVE and ended with Superman (It’s Not Easy). The red-campers let their hair down, sang along to the familiar tunes with swaying to the beat while raising light sticks (or in this case, lighted mobile phones) in their hands.

Thank you to Noël Caleb for dressing Kewei up & got the campers all going “Chiobu! Chiobu! (pretty girl)” as soon as she took on the stage. Also, a big group hug to the fans that made a special trip down just for Kewei’s performance but were unable to enter the hall.

Write in to your school and nominate Kewei to be part of the performance for your schools’ celebrations! Which school are we going to next? Is it yours?
